This is Vrchlabi

View of the town of Vrchlabí and the Krkonose Mountains

Thanks to its location, numerous small shops, wellness services and high quality modern cuisine in the local restaurants, Vrchlabi is predetermined to be the centre of and gateway to the highest Czech mountains, the Krkonose. Here’s where your body and soul will find comfort.

“The Town on the River Labe” and “the Gateway to the Krkonose Mts.” – all this is Vrchlabi. Its advantageous location in the middle of the mountains offers many opportunities for hiking and biking in its close environs or directly on the mountain peaks. Here’s where the Krkonose begin!

Facilities for sportspersons, cross-country skiing areas with artificial lighting and snow, a football and athletics stadium with a grass pitch and a sportsground with artificial grass that can be used all-year round – no wonder many important sports events are held here.

Vrchlabi is alive. When you want to enjoy a good coffee or check the renowned local culinary experiences, don’t worry: we’ve tried all of them and will be glad to recommend something. And if you like to be social and get involved in cultural events, there’s always something going on in Vrchlabi: fairs, the Carnival, the Summer of Crafts, Midsummer Night, the Beer Fest, Bikers’ Blessing, as well as a series of chamber music concerts – the Vrchlabi Summer of Music, the theatre season, folklore festival and Harvest Home. You can also watch art movies in the outdoor summer cinema, or visit the new premises of the cosy Kartonka 1904 cinema. You will certainly feel comfortable in the setting of a picturesque historical town which offers the friendliness of small towns and professional approach of big towns.

Vrchlabi has very good transport services, enhanced by the Krkonose cyclo-buses in summer, whose lines converge in the town and take you to various places throughout the region. In winter, everyone will be able to choose something from the diverse offer of activities – ski resorts for families with children as well as for skilled skiers, a roofed winter sports stadium, cross-country tracks, and even a cross-country facility with artificial lighting and snow. Views Jested hill and the Krkonose foothills are best enjoyed from the Zaly viewing tower, a unique stone structure which you don’t have to climb to – you can use the chair lift from Herlikovice to nearly the first step.
